Professor Annetje Ottow new President of Leiden University

Professor Annetje Ottow will be appointed President of the Executive Board of Leiden University on 8 February 2021. She will be the first female President of Leiden University.

Annetje Thecla Ottow (1965) is currently Vice President of the Executive Board of Utrecht University, where she has also served as Dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance. She is also Professor of Public Economic Law, a chair that she will hold in Leiden at Leiden Law School. In addition, Ottow holds a number of advisory roles in the public and private sector.

Hester den Ruijter benoemd tot hoogleraar Cardiovascular disease in women

Hester den Ruijter, hoofdonderzoeker Experimentele Cardiologie bij Divisie Hart & Longen, is per 1 juni benoemd tot hoogleraar Cardiovascular disease in women bij de Faculteit Geneeskunde van de Universiteit Utrecht.

Margot Weijnen and Anita Hardon new members of executive board NWO

The Minister of Education, Culture and Science has appointed two new members to the executive board. Margot Weijnen will be the new chair for the NWO Domain Applied and Engineering Sciences, starting 1 March 2020. Anita Hardon will take office on 1 June as the new chair of the NWO Domain Social Sciences and Humanities.

Willemien den Ouden appointed State Councillor

Former LNVH board member Willemien den Ouden, Professor of Constitutional and Administrative Law and Academic Director of the Institute of Public Law has been appointed State Councillor at the Administrative Jurisdiction Division of the Council of State in the Netherlands.

Dr A.H. Heineken Prize for History 2020 awarded to Lorraine Daston

The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences has awarded the Dr A.H. Heineken Prize for History 2020 to Lorraine Daston, director emerita of the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (MPIWG) in Berlin and visiting professor at the University of Chicago. Daston is receiving the prize for her study of the development of the concept of objectivity and the transformation she has brought about in the history of science.

prof.dr. Nanna Verhoeff
