Research and teaching mandate (leeropdracht)
Expertise Functional, dynamic organization of the mammalian genome exploring engineered (synthetic) mammalian cells to modulate the epigenetic state performing quantitative single-cell measurements using advanced microscopy techniques and computational modelling. Towards biomedical applications, research on Huntington’s disease and breast cancer drug resistance is initiated. Prof. Pernette Verschure is professor by special appointment of Functional Epigenome Dynamics at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Amsterdam (Amsterdam UMC), a field in which the dynamics and variability of epigenetic regulation are central. With her chair she will connect her fundamental research at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Computer Science (FNWI) with the clinical application at the Faculty of Medicine (Amsterdam UMC).
