Research and teaching mandate (leeropdracht) Biotechnology and Society
Expertise Patricia Osseweijer (1958) is full professor and Leader of the Biotechnology and Society group, Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Delft University of Technology. She links technological innovation in biobased production with societal challenges for a sustainable bioeconomy, focusing on integral impact assessment, ethics, values, trust and responsibility, stakeholder interaction, public opinion forming and communication and their relevance for policy making. In 2015 she was awarded the Royal Academy of the Netherlands distinguished Lorentz fellowship for integrating social sciences and technology. Patricia is Flagship manager of the BE-Basic public private partnership and Co-Scientific Director of the TU Delft/BE-Basic office and program in Campinas, Brazil. She published over 90 articles, reports and papers and gave more than 125 presentations.
