White Innocence: Paradoxes of Colonialism and Race

This afternoon is dedicated to the farewell address of prof. dr. Gloria Wekker. She has been part of the UU Gender Studies team for nearly 20 years and made a significant contribution to the design of the UU Gender and Postcolonial Studies teaching and research programme.
Central to the symposium will be the presentation of Gloria Wekker's White Innocence: Paradoxes of Colonialism and Race (Duke University Press, 2016).
Detailed program will be announced soon. Speakers will include: Philomena Essed, Rosemarie Buikema, Nancy Jouwe, Domitilla Olivieri, Maayke Botman and Phoebe Mbasalaki.
