Critical Theory in the Humanities: Resonances of the Work of Judith Butler

CLUE+ is the principal research institute for the humanities at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. It aims to foster cooperation in and between a range of disciplines from archaeology, history, and anthropology to philosophy, art, and media studies.

Two of the CLUE+ Research Clusters, “Paradigms of Creativity” and “Knowledge Formation and Its History,” together host the conference:

Critical Theory in the Humanities: Resonances of the Work of Judith Butler

We believe the breadth of Butler’s work – touching upon questions of identity in philosophy, ethics, politics, religion, and the arts – can serve as a stepping stone for a fruitful intellectual exchange between the various disciplines.
