Heineken PrizesThe scientific Heineken Prizes recognise and reward unique achievement in the fields of biochemistry and biophysics, medicine, environmental sciences, history and cognitive science. Nomination and selection of the Heineken Laureates is entrusted to the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW). Candidates are nominated by other scientists or learned institutions throughout the world. Prospective nominees should be active scientists or scholars who are expected to continue their research activities for at least ten years. Their achievements in the field of biochemistry and biophysics, medical research, environmental research, history or cognitive science are outstanding and a source of inspiration to others.
