Physical Sciences

The Call for Nomination for the 19th edition of the l'Oréal-UNESCO for women in science awards is now open. Scientists from around the world are invited to submit candidates who qualify at the www.fwis.fr/en/awards.

Since 1998, the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science programme has aimed to ensure that research in every field takes full advantage of the intelligence, creativity and passion of one-half of the population of the planet. Over the past 18 years, the program has honoured 92 distinguished Laureates, including two who went on to win the Nobel Prize, and supported 2,438 greatly talented women for their outstanding accomplishments that contribute to making the world a better place.

The 2017 edition of the Awards will celebrate five outstanding scientific researchers in the Physical Sciences (chemistry, physics, astronomy…), working in one of the following regions: Africa & the Arab States, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America and North America. Each of the five Laureates will receive an award of €100,000 to further their impactful research.

The Call for Nomination is open until June 20th, 2016. Women scientists can only be nominated by qualified scientists (PhD minimum requirement). An independent, international jury of eminent scientists will gather in September to make the final selection.
